Editors and administrative personnel are reeling this week at popular Catholic media site The Pillar following revelations that no news has come from the Diocese of Charlotte in the past week. “I’m grateful that the people of the diocese are not facing more innovations” said editor-in-chief JD Flynn, “but at the same time, nothing increases web traffic like crazy things in Charlotte.”
These revelations come on the coattails of accusations that The Pillar has been intentionally prodding the Diocese and Bishop Michael Martin to make more changes. A leaked letter from an anonymous Pillar employee addressed to Bishop Martin asks that he, “do something, anything to keep Charlotte on the map!” The letter goes on to suggest that he “not just ban altar rails, but also ban the use of altars in general!”
Flynn has responded to these claims stating, “this letter does not reflect the views of The Pillar or its employees.” When pressed by The Roman Caller regarding whether the letter was authentic, Flynn declined to comment.
At the time of publishing, rumors and leaks have suggested that The Pillar may sell assets if the situation does not change. If this proves to be true, The Roman Caller will begin a hostile takeover of the company.
